Subscribing your phone to the MWO Calendar

Subscribing to the MWO calendar will give you a quick and easy view into what is happening inside of our Optimist Zone. See below for instructions on how to subscribe your device to the calendar.

iPhone or iPad

1. Open Settings: Locate and tap on the "Settings" app on your iPhone's home screen.

2. Navigate to Calendar Settings: Scroll down the settings menu and find "Calendar". Tap on it to access Calendar settings.

3. Add Account: In the Calendar settings, tap on "Accounts".

4. Select "Other": You want to subscribe to a calendar, not add an account

5. Choose "Add Subscribed Calendar": In the next screen you will see a line that says "Server" - paste the calendar link "https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/dist46optimist%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics" in this location and press 'Next'.

6. Touch "Save": Now you are subscribed to the calendar.

That's it! You've successfully subscribed to a calendar on your iPhone. Now you can view events from the subscribed calendar within the Calendar app.

Android Phone

1. Open Calendar App: Start by opening the default calendar app on your Android phone. This could be Google Calendar or a calendar app provided by your device manufacturer.

2. Access Calendar Settings: Once you're in the calendar app, look for the settings icon. This might appear as three vertical dots, or it could be located in the app's menu. Tap on it to access the settings.

3. Add a Calendar: In the settings menu, look for an option like "Add calendar", "Manage calendars", or "Accounts". Tap on it to add a new calendar.

4. Select Subscription Option: Choose the option to add a new calendar via URL or subscription. This might be labeled differently depending on your calendar app.

5. Enter Calendar URL: You'll be prompted to enter the URL of the calendar you want to subscribe to. This URL is usually provided by the organization or individual sharing the calendar. Paste the URL into the provided field.

6. Subscribe: After pasting the URL, look for an option to subscribe or add the calendar. Tap on it to subscribe to the calendar.

7. Adjust Settings (Optional): Depending on your calendar app, you may have the option to adjust settings such as the calendar name, color, or sync frequency. Make any desired adjustments.

8. Sync Calendar: After subscribing, your Android phone will sync with the subscribed calendar. Depending on your sync settings, this might happen automatically or you may need to manually sync your calendars.

9. View Subscribed Calendar: Once synced, the subscribed calendar's events should appear alongside your existing calendars in the calendar app.

That's it! You've successfully subscribed to a calendar on your Android phone. You'll now be able to view events from the subscribed calendar within your calendar app. If you have any trouble subscribing to the calendar, make sure you have the correct URL and that your calendar app supports subscription functionality.
